Part 1 - 2015 Romance Writers of America Conference

I’m furiously working on the second book in the Captain’s Orders series, but didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share my first RWA conference with you. I could just sum it up in one word - Wow! - but that wouldn’t give you any idea of the fun I had and the knowledge I sucked up. So many of my favorite authors in one place -- here it is in three parts!

Bright lights, big city! The 2015 Romance Writers of America conference took place in the Marriot Marquis hotel, right on Times Square. There was a feeling of sisterhood and encouragement in the air that was absolutely unbelievable. I felt it in the workshops, the book signings, the parties and just hanging around the bar talking.

Here I am with Sylvia Day, #1 New York Times and international bestselling author of The Crossfire Series and over 20 other award-winning novels in 40 countries. Not only did she take this pic with my book, she asked me to sign it to her!

At one of the workshops, I talked with Kresley Cole, author of The Professional and the Immortals after Dark Series.

All note-taking and no fun makes Kara a dull girl, so I made sure to attend this photo shoot that shows how a photographer shoots romance novel covers.

One attendee was the lucky female in the series of photos shot by Kimberly Killion, author and owner of The Killion Group, a book-branding company.

Harvey, the endlessly hunky hero/model, first appeared as a sexy Highlander.

Harvey also looks good as a modern action hero, doesn’t he? P.S. He was actually really funny and smart, too.

You know those book covers that just have a super-sexy torso? Harvey obviously knows how to bring it!
